Do you ever wonder if seeing you primary care physician annually is medically necessary? There are many benefits to seeing your doctor every year, well visits give you doctor a chance to get to know and educate you on ways to stay healthy. He/she may be able to catch certain cancers early or diagnose depression. A downside to seeing a doctor when you are not sick could lead to an unnecessary diagnosis, leading to unneeded treatments and unwanted medical bills. Studies conducted on this issue are either too old or need to be expanded to include a larger demographic of people. As of now, A solution to this issue could be to see your primary care physician every two to four years and as always when you are having symptoms and it is necessary.
