With a larger elderly population then ever before and Americans living longer and longer then needs and issues surrounding senior citizens are becoming incredibly important. Many older Americans find themselves being manipulated for the financial gain of others, sometimes to the point that their entire life savings is at risk. The people taking this money aren’t necessarily hardened criminals, they can be friends of the senior citizen, even members of their own family. Up to 50% of incidences of financial crime against the elderly go unreported, but there are ways to combat this. Having an objective third party involved in financial matters and regularly consulting them can help to stave off fraud and other related problems. Despite the independence many people are soused to its perfectly acceptable to rely on other people for some assistance in financial matters as you age.
